Just Google “email marketing” and you’ll quickly learn that there are thousands of opinions on the subject. Many of those opinions are based on a few email marketing myths that we hear about all the time, so we would like to set the record straight!
Myth #1: Email Marketing is Dead.
Wrong! Email marketing is alive and well! The resurgence in popularity of email marketing this year is not without reason either. 94% of adult Americans use email regularly, 58% of adult Americans check their email first thing in the morning, and 77% of consumers say they prefer to receive permission-based marketing communications through email.
Myth #2: I Need a Big Email List to do Email Marketing.
Wrong again! A small list of clients who know your name will outperform a huge list of people who have never heard of you every time. Remember, email marketing is not about throwing something against the wall and seeing what sticks.
Email Marketing is about sending relevant and timely communications to maintain relationships. [tweet this quote].
Myth #3: Email Marketing Should Generate Immediate Revenue.
That’s missing the point. You’ve worked hard to build your business, and you need a strategy to keep those relationships fresh. Regular emails keep your name top-of-mind and start conversations when a client has a need. While emails do often turn into future business, you should look at email marketing as an investment in the maintenance and growth of your customer relationships.
What’s keeping you from starting an email marketing program? Another myth perhaps? If so, please comment and let us know about it.
